Whether you are creating a new space or changing the one you have you need a plan. Having a plan in place will give you direction, focus, and save money. To start let yourself imagine the type of space you would really like to have. While in the planning stage start a file of things you like so that you can share it with the professionals you chose to work with. Often a single item can be the inspiration for the entire project. Prioritize your wants and needs.

How can a design professional help me?
As a professional designer my job is to help you determine what your likes and dislikes are. I need to carefully listen and observe. Fashion trends should and will be considered. It is more important that selections made represent your own personality, lifestyle, and taste.

How can a designer save you time and money?
Talk about budget and investment concerns. You will want to be aware of what things really cost today and set a realistic budget. A designer also saves you time, frustration and money as we bring the selections to you. For example, have you ever noticed how much tile is in one store or how many fabric selections are out there? My job is to narrow down those selections for you so you can make the final decision based on products suited for your needs and style.

The most serious and costly design mistakes can be avoided with proper planning. Determine the function of the space. Think of the needs, comfort, and convenience of all those using the space. Make a list of the activities that have to take place and those activities you would like to include if possible. With a thought out plan in place you can proceed with confidence.
